Summary

I run Ebenstone, a software studio that scopes, designs and ships custom software for churches, small businesses and schools. Before that I spent twelve years on FastField, a platform for collecting data in the field. I was one of its first five people and held five jobs on it, from support engineer to product manager, through profitability and its 2023 acquisition by Quickbase.

  • Stayed on as product manager for FastField after Quickbase acquired it. Owned a product area from discovery through release, with engineering, design and customer success.
  • Ran the roadmap: requirements, backlog, sprint planning, and stakeholders agreed on outcomes.
  • Kept the scrum master and release manager duties, with two-week sprints and clean builds on a predictable schedule.
  • Checked each launch against real usage in Azure, Power BI and Application Insights.

Technical Product Manager · FastField, Inc.

Sep 2014 – Jun 2023 · San Clemente, CA
  • One of the first five people. Joined as a technical support engineer, then support manager, product development manager and technical product manager, all on the same product.
  • Helped grow FastField from $0 to $20M+ in annual recurring revenue and from about 20 customers to about 7,500.
  • Shipped across every layer of the platform: mobile capture (often offline), storage, the Global Workflow rules engine, and integrations to Salesforce, SQL Server, Power BI, Amazon S3, SharePoint and others.
  • Worked with engineering to move submission and workflow processing onto queued Azure Functions workers with retry, logging and alerting, through roughly 350× customer growth.
  • Built and led the custom forms service, a paid team that built complex forms for customers. Hired and managed the team.
  • Took an active part in SOC 2, HIPAA and GDPR compliance, and in the due diligence for the 2023 acquisition.
